FAKE ESCAPE PREPARES FOR EDINBURGH FRINGE 10TH ANNIVERSARY
August 2026 will mark our 10th year producing shows at the world's largest arts festival; starting way back in 2016 with Treasa Nealon's beautiful solo play A Dream of Dying. To mark the occasion, Fake Escape will be presenting two World Premieres, as well as reviving their most successful production to date.

FAKE ESCAPE COMPLETES SUCCESSFUL R&D IN BOSNIA
In October 2025, Artistic Director David Shopland, along with Associate Artists Callum Patrick Hughes and Roann Hassani McCloskey, spent 3 weeks in Sarajevo, Bosnia & Herzegovina undertaking an Arts Council funded period of Research and Development centred on creating an interative, immersive theatrical experience inspired by Colonial contexts of geopolitical conflicts in the 1990's.

Don't You Forget About Me is a fast, funny and surprisingly emotional unauthorised solo show about The Breakfast Club’s imaginary sixth member. He’s throwing a reunion, rewriting the film and unravelling his own past as nostalgia, memory and movie magic crash together in the most chaotic detention never filmed.

Fake Escape presents The Day of the Locust: a live gig-theatre adaptation of Nathanael West’s cult novel, where loop pedals, bowed guitars and a single performer conjure the grotesque beauty and chaos of fame, failure and mob desire.

Set in the heat and shadows of 90s Bristol, Under The Surface Noise follows two young Trip-Hop artists whose creative spark carries both electricity and danger. This intimate two-hander dives into music, memory, identity and the parts of ourselves we can’t outrun.
Premiering in the South West in 2027 before embarking on a UK Tour
Slasher! is a 90s pop punk horror comedy musical where every teen movie trope gets turned inside out. When a Final Girl discovers the killer is rewriting reality, she and her friends fight back to reclaim their own story. Developed with support from Stage One.
Premiering at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2027
Step inside a day-glo 90s TV world where you’re the contestant in a series of ridiculous, high-energy challenges. The lights flash, the slime flies, and somewhere beneath the laughter, you start to wonder who’s really keeping score.
